Concrete Foundations & Footings

Strong, stable foundations built to support your home or structure for decades.

Professional foundation and footing work in Pacifica, CA

Why Your Foundation Matters Most

Your foundation is literally what everything else sits on. A weak or poorly built foundation causes cracks in walls, uneven floors, stuck doors, and structural problems that cost thousands to fix. Whether you are building a new home, adding a room, or constructing a garage or ADU, the foundation needs to be done right from day one.

Here in Pacifica, we deal with challenging soil conditions, seismic requirements, and coastal moisture. Your foundation has to handle all of that while supporting the weight of your structure. We specialize in residential and light commercial foundations that meet local building codes and last for generations.

Types of Foundations We Install

Different projects require different foundation types. We handle all common foundation systems:

  • Slab-on-grade foundations: Single-pour concrete slab with integrated footings, common for garages and single-story structures
  • Stem wall foundations: Footings with concrete stem walls supporting the structure, allows for crawl space
  • Pier and beam foundations: Concrete piers connected by grade beams, useful for sloped lots or challenging soil
  • Continuous footings: Reinforced concrete footings under load-bearing walls
  • Isolated footings: Individual concrete pads supporting posts or columns

Your engineer or architect specifies which foundation type you need based on soil reports, building size, and local codes. We follow those specs exactly and coordinate inspections at each phase of the work.

Our Foundation Installation Process

Foundation work is technical and detail-oriented. We follow engineered plans and building code requirements on every job. Here is how a typical foundation project proceeds:

First, we review all plans, permits, and soil reports. Site layout and excavation come next. We dig to the depth specified in your plans, making sure the bottom of the excavation is level and properly compacted. Forms are built to exact dimensions with bracing to hold everything in place during the pour.

Rebar placement follows the structural engineer's specifications. This includes vertical and horizontal steel, proper spacing, and tie-ins between footings and walls. All rebar is inspected before concrete placement. We also install anchor bolts, hold-downs, and any embedded items at this stage.

Concrete is placed in accordance with the mix design on your plans. We vibrate the concrete to eliminate voids and ensure complete coverage around all steel. The top surface is leveled and finished for the next phase of construction. After the concrete reaches sufficient strength, we strip forms and backfill as appropriate.

Throughout the process, we coordinate required inspections with the building department. No work proceeds to the next phase until the inspector approves the completed work.

Why Foundation Work Requires Experience

Foundation work is not something you want done by the lowest bidder. Mistakes are expensive to fix and can compromise your entire structure. We have seen foundation failures caused by insufficient reinforcement, poor concrete placement, inadequate curing, and ignoring soil conditions.

Our team understands structural requirements, seismic codes, and local soil behavior. We work with engineers, inspectors, and other trades to ensure your foundation integrates properly with the rest of your project. Whether it is a small garage slab or a full house foundation, we apply the same attention to detail.

If you are planning new construction or an addition, start with a solid foundation. We provide accurate estimates, realistic schedules, and quality work you can build on. Our concrete services cover every aspect of residential and commercial foundation work throughout Pacifica and surrounding areas.
